Kindergarten, which literally means a garden for children, comprises a range of early childhood educational practices. … Kindergarten methods of teaching use different instructional designs to help children learn at their own pace while in a social and collaborative environment.
Usually, before kindergarten, most children can use words they’ve learned from conversations with others or by being read to. Throughout the academic year, your child’s speech will become more structured and understandable, and reading and writing skills will emerge and advance.
In our online school we will segregate our curriculum in 4 courses. In each course we will cover some milestones in reading and writing. The following subjects will be covered in one academic year.
- English (oral, written)
- Value Education (GENERAL AWARENESS & GENERAL KNOWLEDGE)
- Art and Craft
- Physical Activity
- Story and Rhymes.
We in Brit Star follow the playway method, where we teach the children with activities. We will have some play full activities in the class on each subject to learn it better and to memorize the same easily. As a kindergartener they are able to read and learn by themselves. So, we will revise every topic as many times as possible and we will complete some worksheets during the class hours to make the concept clear
We will provide some worksheets at home via mail (which you can take print out and practice at home) and parents can find some interactive lessons and quizzes in the portal too, where they can practice the subjects as well.
Children will be taught the strokes first as they start learning the uppercase alphabets to enable them to understand the formation of the letters. In the later part of the academic year they will be taught the cursive formation of the alphabets.
As the school year goes on, children will be able to understand basic sentence structure and punctuation. They will learn, for example, that the first word in a sentence is capitalized and that sentences end with full stops, question marks, or exclamation marks. Most kindergarteners learn to write letters in both lower and uppercase.
During kindergarten, children also learn to use question words, such as “who,” “what,” “when,” “where,” “why,” and “how,” as well as how to make words plural by adding an “s” or “es”.
In kindergarten math, children learn the names of numbers and how to count them in sequence. They begin to become familiar with numbers 11–100. They should also be able to count objects and begin an introduction to geometry by learning to recognize and name shapes such as triangles, rectangles, circles, and squares. We will teach some basic pre math concepts like full – empty, concept of zero, tall – short, big – small, far – near etc.
